Burning off a List by sending the Subscribers content in which they are not interested is a danger that all Email Marketers need to be VERY aware of. Your List is your most valuable asset, and should be treated as such.
Segmenting Lists is an extremely powerful way to avoid that danger by targeting your Campaigns to ONLY those Subscribers who will relate to the content.
Using up to three “Conditions” in a sequence you can drill down into your List and segment out – for instance – all subscibers living in Texas – then of those the ones that live in Dallas – and of those the ones who are Female. That would a great Segment of your List if you were selling the services of a Spa in Dallas.
Or you can send a Campaign to just those who DID open a previous Campaign, or did NOT. The possibilities are endless, and really only limited by your imagination.
There are times however when one needs to use manual intervention to create a Segment, and that is covered in “Segmenting a List Manualy”.
With Automation one can react automatically to your Subscribers actions. Move them to another List if they “Open” a Campaign, or a different List if they click on a link in a campaign. As a result of moving them they can automatically start to receive a different sequence of Autoresponders. These Automation functions facilitate the creation of sophisticated “Funnels”.
