“Split Testing” is a means of judging the relative proficiency of the content / appearance of various web pages, or location on one larger page, or the effectiveness of one web site as against another.
It is achieved by placing Optin Forms on the different pages or web sites or locations on a larger page, and having one field in the Forms record a Form ID by default. The Form ID can be as simple as “Form 1” and “Form 2”, or as detailed as you like.
A Custom Field is created in the relevant List – maybe called “List ID” and set with a Default of the first Form Identifier – we have used “Form 1” in this illustration.
In Lists > Your List (ours is called Split Testing) > Optin Points > View – copy ALL the code ready to paste it into your web page.
Then paste into your web page.
The original is set with a Default of “Form 1” as above. Now paste the Form Code into your other web page or location and change “Form 1” to “Form 2” as below
There is no limit to how many times you can repeat that to test as many web pages / locations as you wish.
As can be seen above that Form ID field now identifies which Form the Subscriber Record originated from – telling you which adjacent web page content prompted the visitor to subscribe – or maybe what Form design works best – or web site 1 generates more subscribers than web site 2.
