When you have large numbers of Autoresponders covering an extended period of time, it can become necessary to update large numbers of links as circumstances evolve. You might have a Sequence of 100 Autoresponders all containing a link to the same URL – quite a job updating that lot.
If you cater for a lot of different niches, with big Autoresponder Sequences for each the issue can become a major one.
There is a simple solution – using a PHP Re-Direct script, which will mean that by changing one URL the end destination of those 100 (or however many) links will be changed – Multi Link modification at a stroke!
However, you need to grasp the fact that this function has to be “Link” based NOT “Autoresponder Sequence” based. That is because you may have a 100 Autoresponder Sequence, but the links lead to four different web pages, and maybe only one group of those links has to be changed.
The concept is that you create a directory on your server called redirects, preferably in the route directory to ensure fast loading.
In that directory you place a file called link_redirect_1.php. That file contains PHP code which can be openeed in any Plain Text Editor (or Dreamweaver if you like) and easily modified as required.
You then point all your Campaign Links aimed at any one web page to that URL http://yourdomain/redirects/link_redirect_1.php using the “Insert Link” function so that the URL itself is masked.
The file can be downloaded above as a .txt file – download it and rename to link_redirect_1.php and copy to your yourdomain/redirects directory
Open that file in the Text Editor again and you will see it contains a line $url = “http://google.com”; modify that by replacing google.com with the web page address you want your Link to load, and save again of course as a .php file.
In future, when you need to change the URL your 20/30/100 or however many Campaign Links lead to you only have to modify link_redirect_1.php by changing that one web page address.
If you have more than one group of Campaign Links you need to set up in this way, then just create more copies of link_redirect_1.php numbering them sequentially, with no limit to how many, and point your Campaign Links to the appropriate one, having set up the necessary web page address in each.
